Cat Cushway

Cat Cushway is the Founder of Revive Academy, bringing extensive experience in education that spans classroom teaching, curriculum development, and administrative roles. Raised in Allendale, Michigan, Cat's early involvement in Christian education, including youth discipleship and children’s ministry, inspired her pursuit of a career in teaching.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Education, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, both from Grand Valley State University. Her diverse career includes roles as a Behavioral Interventionist in Killeen, Texas, a Zoo Teacher in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a Middle School Teacher and Virtual Administrator in Coopersville, Michigan, and an Educational Consultant at Grand Valley State University. Cat has a passion for fostering a love for learning and, nurturing a passion for inquiry, she has always aimed to cultivate critical thinking skills that empower students to tackle complex challenges and achieve their goals.

In 2021, Cat and her family moved to Homer, Alaska, where she took time to focus on her young children and family life. By 2024, she felt a calling to make a difference in her community and decided to start a Christian school. With her passion and experience, she founded Revive Academy, aiming to create a supportive and Christ-centered learning environment. Cat is excited about leading the academy and fostering an inclusive community where students can thrive academically and grow spiritually.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Education from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. After graduating in 1994, she moved with her husband, Sheldon, to Homer, Alaska, where she taught at Christian Community School.

Her calling to teach is evident in her involvement with children’s Sunday School, women’s Bible study, and piano students.

Eileen Becker

Eileen is a member of the Revive Academy Launch Board. Originally from Arizona, over the years, she has lived in various places including Corona, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and, most recently, Homer, Alaska.

In 1965, Eileen met and married David in San Luis Obispo. She worked as a cashier clerk at the County Tax Collector Office for four years until David completed his college studies. After seven years with David working at Raytheon, they decided to venture into a new chapter of their lives together. With three young sons in tow, they purchased a historical hotel in Alaska and added another son to their family in 1976. During the process of selling the hotel, they began licensing and building their first commercial radio station, eventually expanding to four additional stations over the next 45 years. In 1986, they adopted a two-year-old daughter, further enriching their family life.

Eileen’s career also includes a significant tenure as Director of the Pregnancy Care Center, where she served for 14 years before retiring in 2010. During this period, she managed to purchase and remodel the center’s location, paying off the mortgage within five years. Currently, Eileen is at a crossroads, anticipating the sale of the radio stations in the coming months. She stays active by assisting with the stations when needed, engaging with her five grown children, and cherishing the growth and adventures of her 21 grandchildren, with a second great-grandchild born in August. Eileen is involved in church volunteer work and local and statewide politics, and she enjoys reading, decorating, and cooking. She is excited about the plans for Revive Academy and hopes to bring her optimism and historical perspective to contribute to its success, drawing from her active involvement in the church-based Community Christian School during her children’s educational years.
