Revive Academy Philosophy of Education

Philosophy of Education

noun bible 2339346
We are a God-centered academy with the goal to cultivate a life-long love of learning. We encourage students to explore God’s abundant gifts in the created order (nature, language, health, mathematics, music, etc.). Since “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” (Proverbs 9:10, ESV) we believe that Biblical wisdom is the foundation for a life spent glorifying God and enjoying Him. At Revive, we hold that every child is endowed with an eternal soul and formed in the image of the Creator Himself. As such, they are born with unique identity, purpose, and creativity. It is upon these axiomatic qualities that our approach to education is built. We are excited to work alongside parents who are passionate about raising their child with a Biblical worldview and partnering with us in providing an excellent education.

At Revive, students learn through the Classical model in a hands-on environment. Classical education is a time-tested model which builds culture intentionally by shaping the mind and soul to love what God loves. This model looks at God in the Word (Trivium) and God in the world (Quadrivium) within the natural phases of child development. When our relationship with God is the cornerstone of our life, knowledge and understanding will proceed naturally, pointing back to the Creator. At Revive, we meditate on the true, the good, and the beautiful. We do this by reading and interacting with great books, exploring and cultivating nature, and studying the history of the world. We also emphasize memorizing and declaring God’s Word, mastering the order of mathematics, and honing communication skills for meaningful dialogue. Students learn to succeed in hard work and persevere in rigorous education, as we encourage them to “work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23, ESV). The goal of our education is to shape the virtues and sharpen the reason of the next generation to align with God’s great purpose.

At Revive Academy, we believe the hybrid model works best for our families. The hybrid model involves rigorous academic instruction in a classroom setting with an abbreviated weekly schedule, in partnership with parents through intentional home application. The abbreviated schedule means students spend more time at home than the average public school student, allowing parents to be the primary mentors in their child’s life (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). Through this model, we encourage students to develop skills as independent, creative learners, give them more time to complete assignments well, and increase their interaction with real-life rhythms. Partnering with parents is the backbone of our community, and absolutely essential for the development of our students.
